LFW Fashion Report: Gaurav Gupta
Smashing the glam quotient over the roof is what Gaurav Gupta probably aspired to do and definitely achieved. Gold was omnipresent; as embellishments, texture, delicate elements and in the palette of the garment as a whole. Apt, considering that the gilded Egyptian era of pharaohs was his inspiration. And yet, the overall look was clearly current day, maybe even upcoming tomorrow. The designer’s signature drapes flowed through the collection, but were interspersed with bodycon silhouettes as well – severe black gowns with metallic accents and cutwork lace dresses that fitted like a second skin. Mawi’s statement making jewels upped the ante of a decidedly bold presentation although the message would have come across loud and clear with no help at all.
