LFW Ramp Watch: Mrinalini Chandra
Mrinalini’s jewellery was more art, less bijoux. Seeking inspiration from something as elementary as a chair, she moulded customised gold alloy into shapes one cannot fathom would serve as jewellery. Yet she managed to keep the form aesthetic and with the support of recycled glass stones and semi-precious gems, like jade, onyx, coated pearls, she brought to life pieces like an arm ornament, a gold bolero, a graphic 3D rendition for necklaces, cummerbunds as well as ornaments for the hair.
HIGHPOINTS: Thematically hitting the right notes.
SCOPE: For the next collection, focus more on wearability and showcase some more toned down options.
