What We Loved At The Chanel Métiers d’art show 2015/2016
Taking off from Salzburg last year, Karl Lagerfeld chose Italy to present the Chanel Métiers d’art collection. Cinecittà, the legendary film studio complex located in Rome, was the perfect venue thanks to the Gatsby-like aura that still lingers around the sets.
The collection was splattered with the iconic Chanel colour palette. We loved how subtly the metallic hues of beige and gold crept into the collection. Leather and tweed jackets were given a daring undertone, with the beauty of a gothic vibe. Not to mention, lace, pearls and lots of eye make-up.
On our lust-list
What you really shouldn’t miss is the much-talked about slingbacks with the pointed heel. (And we’ve already pinged Santa to get us the black camera shoulder bag, this year. Diamonds can wait.)
Remember the mechanical garden and ‘Boulevard Chanel’? Known for his signature elaborate sets, Karl Lagerfeld upped his game by re-creating Parisian streets complete with a boulangerie, cinema and cafes.
Once and Forever movie
What we really want to talk about is the Chanel film Once and Forever that premièred at the show. Starring Kristen Stewart, the actress who you thought was cute-as-button turns out to be a director’s nightmare. She plays the role of Coco Chanel in the film, creates a ruckus on set and eventually shocks the team with a great performance. A shout-out goes to background score that is current playing on loop, even as we speak! Geraldine Chaplin, who co-stars in the movie, is undoubtedly smooth and is the eternal Coco Chanel in our eyes too.
