Exclusive: Preview of Hemant & Nandita’s Collection for AIFW SS17
For their summer collection, designers Hemant and Nandita take Victorian motifs like neckline tie-ups, gathers, and voluptuous sleeves and give it modern day treatment. The wearable catalogue of modish designs meet summer shades of whites and blues. Colours like ecru, gold and red are also part of the jumbo abstract prints. Shimmer and metal are interwoven to give the garments a luxe feel. While we patiently wait for the collection to unfold, the designers walk us through their ideas and influences…
The mood board…
“Our mood board exuberates Victorian influences, shades of blues, white and reds, volume, shirts and skirts, abstract motifs, puffed sleeves, silhouette experimentation, tie-ups and a lot of layering.”
The techniques…
“We have re-engineered our silhouettes to incorporate the Victorian design sensibility. You will see a lot of flowers, frills, flounce and voluminous clothing. Our SS17 collection has a lot of silhouette experimentation along with a very contemporary take on the surface techniques. We have used fused surface techniques to maintain the Hemant and Nandita appeal while keeping the fabrics light and wearable for the summer.”
The muse…
Designed for women who love to explore and experiment with their style, the label is young, wearable, and effortlessly elegant. The versatile silhouettes from the collection can easily go from desk to dinner and speak volumes about the free-spirited cosmopolitan woman.
