WIFW Ramp Watch: Sahil Kochhar
The debut designer‘s technically sound collection was centered around Shola Pith, a craft used extensively in West Bengal to decorate idols. Using corrugated silk floss satin stitch embroidery, chain stitch detailing as well as 3D hand cut techniques, he paraded an array of voluminously crafted ensembles down the ramp. Panelled jackets, textured capes and detailed maxi dresses had masculine shapes, yet comprised feminine accents.
HIGHPOINTS: Hitting all the right notes sartorially with this collection when it came to surface techniques and presentation.
SCOPE: Focus on the collection as a cumulative whole with crisper shapes and a better thematic flow for the next round.
