Edgy Designer: Rahul Mishra

From Malhausi in Kanpur (where he schooled) to a fashion school in Milan, (the epicentre of fashion), he has come a long way. Mishra was the first Indian designer to win the International Woolmark Prize at Milan Fashion Week in 2014. Mishra teamed up with weavers from Kerala, Orissa and other parts of the country to create the merino wool fabric, which is trans-seasonal in nature. In his winning speech, Misra said, “It is incredible that from the sheep in green fields, you get this great product – and nothing was killed in the process.” His award-winning collection titled ‘The Lotus Effect’ is ethereal and embodies an inner spiritual side. The crème de la crème of retailers have offered to stock his designs – from Harvey Nichols to Saks 5th Avenue. Celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Karisma Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor flaunt his classy, edgy and interestingly feather light clothes. He’s officially arrived. He normally appears calm and contented. He is o™ften seen in open single breast jackets and shirts with his black evil eye string around his neck. He also carries off his wavy hair with confidence.
