Unique food experiences, romantic vibes and shopping destinations….

NEW YORK
New York City, for me, exudes an energy like no other place in the world. The metropolis is constantly evolving, faster than any other city I’ve experienced. There is always something new to discover. In my opinion, the city represents the best in food, culture, art and design. The ‘New York vibe’ is incomparable, and with time one comes to realise that the people of New York are themselves a reason to keep revisiting the city.

SHOPPING AND STYLE
The range and styles of interior stores is nothing if not bewildering. From ultra chic to ultra kitsch, there’s something for everyone. While in New York, essential stops include the Antiques Garage Flea Market for African handicrafts; ABC Carpet & Home, spread across seven floors for the best of furniture, textiles, carpets and home accessories; and of course Restoration Hardware for its wide range of furnishings. Ralph Pucci, Espasso and Johnson Trading Gallery are also worth a visit.

WHERE TO STAY
The Ace Hotel really captures the New York City mood — its Midtown Manhattan location is perfect. Their bustling lobby feels like a university library turned coffee bar, but further in, the sophisticated interiors offer an ideal escape after a busy day. The hotel dining is exceptional, but if you’re in the mood to step out, the concierge will give you some great advice on restaurants around the city.

EAT STREET
With new establishments opening up year after year, New York City is undoubtedly the gourmand capital of USA, and perhaps even the world. Try Le Bernardin on 51st Street that’s known for its French seafood, Eleven Madison Park that’s got contemporary American cuisine, and the stylish NoMad Restaurant on 1170 Broadway.

ART AND CULTURE
Choosing an art gallery to visit from NYC’s many offerings can be a challenging task. Sometimes the most obvious options are the best places to start — the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Brooklyn Museum. Those who want even more of the arts can head to the David Zwirner Gallery on 19th Street and Marian Goodman Gallery on 57th Street.

HOT STOP
Brooklyn Flea Market has never been more exciting — even the hardened Manhattanites are now crossing the iconic bridge to Brooklyn’s Forte Greene. With an eclectic mix of objects, new collections by young designers and artefacts from across the world, it’s definitely a great place to discover.
