Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone Give Us #FamGoals

Text by Wyanet Vaz

Verve applauds Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, as they make it big on global platforms and yet remain daddy’s little girls…

Deepika Padukone just released a sneak peek of her upcoming film XXX- Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel. But that’s not it! We’re feeling the emoticons over her heart-warming speech at the Filmfare Awards 2016 as she read out a letter written to her some years ago by her father.

We hunted through our archives to find Prakash Padukone’s quote on Deepika, that was published in our cover story with the actress in November 2009. “We certainly did not expect Deepika’s dream to be a top model to be realised so soon – it’s entirely due to her determination and clarity of thought. We are extremely proud and while we want her career to continue, it is more important that she make an effort to be a better human being and remain grounded at all times. It may look charming from the outside, but it is a very tough life.” (Read the full interview here.)

How could we miss out on our regular at the global stage – Priyanka Chopra – who made us proud by being the only Indian presenter at The Oscars 2016.

And when she became the first South Asian actress to win a People’s Choice Award. Watch her acceptance speech here:

We throwback to the first time she showed off her tattoo on Twitter, dedicating it to her father. We also looked up our archives and found a snippet of her father’s thoughts during Priyanka Chopra’s cover shoot for Verve in 2008.
The Verve shoot takes Dr. Ashok Chopra back in time. He recalls his 12-year-old girl flouncing in front of a full-length mirror (her only demand from her parents) singing ‘Mere khwaabon mein jo aaye…’ from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge – Priyanka’s absolute favourite film of all time. Even now, she recalls in the blink of an eye the same sparkle, head toss and look of romantic fervour. (Read the full interview here.)

Go global girls, but keep the family love flowing.
