Did you know that Padma Shri awardee, Vidya Balan, likes to have her pillows on her bed facing each other…as if they are having a conversation? Read more….

1. Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vidya Balan (VB) have their own personal preferences in their shared space – the way they keep their books is one of them. Vidya says, “I am particular about my space and how I put my things. But, if I go to someone else’s house and notice something different from how I would put it, I am not compelled to change it. After all, each person’s space is his/her own.”

2. VB: “When I sleep, I like to have my pillows on the bed facing each other – I like the openings to be next to each other. It is almost as if the pillows are having a conversation with each other.”

3. VB is looking forward to starting a family, though at the moment: “We are getting to know each other and both of us have work commitments.”

4. It was Siddharth who broke the news about her Padma Shri to her. VB: “I was in a shoot that day and as is my wont, my phone was on silent. When I looked at it during the break, I saw many missed calls from him. I spoke to him and at first thought he was joking. It was totally unexpected. He told me I would get a call regarding this, and I should answer it. I did so and was asked, ‘Will you accept it?’ And I said, ‘Most humbly’.”

5. On her inner strength and her emerging as a powerful icon, on screen and off it too, VB has written: “My personal sense of power stems from the fact that there is only one of me. All of us are individuals and every individual is unique. There’s no scope for a ‘best’ in a world of individuals. So, if I am the only one in my world then I am the best and the worst there can be. I’m not competing with anyone else.”
