WIFW Fashion Report: Tarun Tahiliani
A fair bit of this collection was vintage Tahiliani – fabrics seamlessly floating over one another to create light-as-air asymmetrical layers, a digital print so fine it could be hand-drawn on the garment, sari pallus twisted and shaped and twirled to fashion themselves into modern avatars. The black and white series won hands down, making statements of heightened sophistication; a case in point being the panelled cape in ebony and ivory. Pashmina shawls celebrated their moment in the sun as well, wrapped around to form slouchy sleeve folds. The Indian wear was larger than life as it often is; voluminous brocade salwars and saris enveloping luxe ornamental blouses but the simpler silhouettes packed a punch even they couldn’t match.
