Exclusive #FirstLook: Nirav Modi Mumbai
There’s been a crackle and buzz reported by Kala-Ghoda-regulars. The days seem short for the workers who have been feverishly putting the finishing touches to a spanking new two-storey store on the cultural avenue. A year after it’s Delhi launch, Nirav Modi’s Mumbai store is set to open it’s doors tomorrow. Both stores have been designed by the Spanish interior designer, Jaime Hayon.
The elegant boutique promises an installation-like approach to showcasing jewellery, along with elements such as a theatrical display of special handcrafted paper art that will change every quarter, and swivelling display windows. We’re interested in the contemporary art from the brand’s founder and creative director, Mr. Nirav Modi’s personal collection, which are to make their presence felt in the boutique (and which have served as inspiration for their designs).
For the fans of their designs, their store will feature the Lotus Collection which is inspired by Monet’s Water Lilies. This collection uses pink diamonds and a bouquet of rose-cut diamonds to simulate the delicacy of the lotus flower. Intricate raised baskets hold the focal point in the rings and earrings creating a lotus-like 3-dimensional feel to the jewels. The petal rims are crafted in pink gold, fine-tuned and modulated to emulate the layered petals of a lotus. A few jewels are set with round rose cut diamonds in carefully calibrated sizes to produce the waterbed effect, over which the blossom floats. They also have a new line of everyday wear jewellery that they are going to presenting at the store.
Don’t miss our event coverage from the opening. Stay tuned.
