#Exclusive: Behind The Scenes with Mr Burberry
Taking forward their love affair with London, Burberry launched Mr Burberry – their newest fragrance for men with a short film directed by Oscar- and- Turner- Prize-winning British director Steve McQueen. Set against Benjamin Clementine’s tranquil soundtrack, McQueen describes the film to be a raw, romantic idea “of two people who are passionately in love, and go off on a dirty weekend. It’s that moment in a relationship where all you are thinking about is each other, and all you want is to be with each other”.
The brazen bits, which are fairly new to the Burberry ethos, suggest a racy twist to the usual scents that are part of the brand’s fragrance line-up. Hints of grapefruit followed by the spicy notes of cardamom, cedar and sandalwood give this fragrance a woody flavour. Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian describes the scent as “contemporary yet classically British in its structure. Mr. Burberry radiates modern and masculine sensuality”.
Known for nurturing fine British talent, Burberry picked young musician Josh Whitehouse to front the campaign. In fact, Amber Anderson (British model and actress), who plays his love interest in the film, lends her perspective on the new fragrance, “He’s quite together, but there’s something about him that’s not pristine. And that’s a cool reflection on the Burberry brand and British style.”
The flacon is inspired by the iconic heritage trench coat and the cool cityscape of London. In case you missed it on our Instagram feed, we were one of the first to pick up this personalised monogrammed bottle.
