Dior’s Cruise Diary 2015
The Brooklyn Navy Yard, by the banks of the East River played fashion hub where European couture met American aesthetics. Raf Simons, the Artistic Director of Christian Dior, showcased gorgeous slim suits with bold lapels, chic coat dresses and floating scarves. The striking leitmotif in his futuristic collection was the silk scarf, or the French carré. Its pop iconography was playfully explored and makes strong appearances. The combination of stripes, graphic patterns and florals all put together was a toughie to pull off, but Simons’ treatment of fabrics, patterns and shapes made the collection seem flawless.
