Designer Focus: Rajesh Pratap Singh
With each showing, Singh’s genius seems to touch a new high. After all, replicating sartorial brilliance distinctively with every collection is a clear sign of a designer par excellence. Taking a newer and bolder direction with innovation, Singh played with khadi linen weaves and handloom denim made with natural indigo dye. These pure textiles were shaped in silhouettes reminiscent of schoolboy uniforms paired with combat boots reflecting an androgynous undertone throughout the womenswear range – culottes or pleated skirts combined with long, slim or cropped double-breasted jackets, bundi jackets with loose denims, high-waisted pants held with suspenders teamed with slim collar shirts and bow-ties, modest white kurtas worn with denims, jackets and carefully folded dupattas. The menswear range was dominated by well-fitted jeans, denim or patchwork jackets, white shirts and long kurtas. Polka dots, pin-stripe patterns were omnipresent in this flawless line of easy-to-wear silhouettes and refined separates.
