How Lady Gaga’s Dog Scored an Ad and 9 Other Campaigns To Know About

Text by Wyanet Vaz

Before the Fall/Winter 2015 ad campaigns reach your nearest billboard, we’ve decoded the concepts, and give you all the fashion trivia. Scroll on…as fashion meets the test of photography

Balmain

Photographer: Mario Sorrenti
What’s the scene: Balmain’s campaign comes with the hashtag #balmainunconditionallove and is all about sibling affection. Kendall and Kylie Jenner front the campaign with ogle-worthy girl-on-girl action. After Kimye last season, we’ve got our dibs on Caitlyn next!

Tommy Hilfiger

Photographer: Craig McDean
What’s the scene: Tommy Hilfiger’s campaign is as American as it can get. Titled ‘Team Hilfiger’, the ads feature Behati Prinsloo and an entire team of footballers. The boss image with the team hoisting up Behati totally defines the cool kids.

Coach

Photographer: Steven Meisel
What’s the scene: Lady Gaga’s French bulldog fronts Coach’s new campaign under the banner of ‘Coach Pups’. Miss Asia Kinney is spotted in nothing but a string of pearls – waiting to be painted like one of the French girls.

Valentino

Photographer: Michal Pudelka
What’s the scene: Valentino does a top shot that is aesthetically pleasing and plays with light and composition. The whole concept revolves around ‘up-and-corners’ and has been shot in Bratislava – the photographer’s birthplace.

Alexander Wang

Photographer: Steven Klein
What’s the scene: The goth club comes together to front a hauntingly beautiful campaign. The black and white imagery very distinctly portrays a sense of defiance as well as belongingness, taking us back to the teen age.

Miu Miu

Photographer: Steven Meisel
What’s the scene: Titled ‘Subjective Reality’, the images seem to have been shot on improv camera. But when you look closely, the dramatic pedestrians, squinting models and hay-wire frames capture the beauty of real-life situations.

Moschino

Photographers: Inez & Vinoodh
What’s the scene: Katy Perry takes badass to the streets. Sporting heavy metal, bomber jackets and her I-kissed-a-girl attitude, you can’t miss the Downtown vibe and of course the infamous side boob.

Gucci

Photographer: Glen Luchford
What’s the scene: Shot on subways and alleys, the hustling neighbourhood has been artistically captured. We dig the Valencia-like filter and are all for boho-dressing.

Nike

What’s the scene: With heavy weights like Kobe Bryant, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Wayne Rooney, this campaign by Nike challenges you to find your version of fast.

Dsquared2

Photographer: Mert & Marcus
What’s the scene: Dsquared2’s campaign takes the season quite seriously with an overdose of fur. The Siberian Huskies and Tamaskan pooches are a welcome addition to the man candy.
