With over 2000 members, all women, the Ladies’ Wing of Indian Merchants’ Chamber is back to host its 27th PREMIER exhibition. IMC is known for its impeccable performance year after year, with tastefully picked variety galore. The last few exhibitions’ commendable success has resulted in an even greater number of enthusiastic shoppers looking forward to it in 2014. With more than 80 participants from around the country, the Women Entrepreneurs (WE) exhibition has been upgraded to WE Couture 2014, which will dabble in the realm of luxury.

It promises to showcase exclusively-designed products in home décor, arts and crafts, personal care, cuisine, et al. Rajyalakshmi Rao, Chairperson, Exhibition Committee, IMC says, “For a woman, creativity is part of her being itself. Those who wish to express themselves through designing fashion clothes, jewellery, artifacts, to cooking, bedlinen, and home decor products, the IMC Exhibition is the perfect starting place. This year we are very excited about our new brand WE Couture 2014.”

The 25,000 square feet of the World Trade Centre’s Expo Centre in Mumbai, will be reserved for this much-awaited event on the 21st and 22nd of August, 2014.

Arti Sanghi, President of the Ladies’ Wing of IMC shares, “Today in 2014, we can proudly say that we have been highly successful in our endeavour, which began a small way from home. We are still the most sought after platform for budding designers. The selection process is long, but fruitful.”

Apart from encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs, 2014 has introduced a special theme – Dream Weavers. The agenda behind this is to support eight ethnic weaver communities from across India by bringing them into the spotlight at an event of this scale. Also, a number of NGOs have been offered kiosks at pro bono – simply to cheer the country’s home-grown craftsmanship and talent. Furthermore, part of the yields from this annual event by IMC will be shared with some of the weavers’ communities, all in a bid to help preserve, promote and revive arts and crafts. Interspersed through the day, fashion shows will showcase the most creative ensembles chosen from the participants’ oeuvre.

In fact, the whole idea of IMC Couture, like its previous expositions, is pivoted on helping small, promising businesses to grow by allowing them a platform that garners a crowd. In this way, a large number of people are made aware of a clutch of neoteric brand names every year. Plenty of fashion labels that are well known today can trace their premier success back to IMC. It is no wonder then that this is one of the most sought out events by shoppers looking for something fresh on the market.
