The Making Of Disney’s Beauty And The Beast Musical

Text by Natasha Sahjwani

What went into the making of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast musical? Find out how elaborate can only be an understatement…

We’ve all been charmed by the Disney dream; the fairy tales, the fireworks, the magic. It played a significant role in our childhood years, but, what happens when the ‘throwback’ is brought to life?

After wowing audiences internationally with its theatrical productions such as The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Aladdin, the Disney on Broadway flagship finally sets stage in India for the first time ever with its timeless classic Beauty and the Beast. India’s rendition of the award-winning feature film will be presented as a symphonic love story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  Expect dramatic flaring costumes, elaborate sets, foot-tapping melodies and a world class production just as its Broadway shows. Having won hearts the world over, the Beauty and the Beast production in India has brought together the best of local talent which include eminent names such as Gavin Miguel, Terence Lewis and Lesle Lewis among others. To top it off, the musical has got the one and only Amitabh Bachchan to lend his voice for the prologue.
