‘If there is a heaven on earth, it’s here, it’s here, it’s here,’ said Mughal emperor Jahangir about the beauty of Kashmir, aeons ago. While the land may have changed – politically, geographically, historically – since, it’s inherent beauty remains unchanged. In a new photography show by award-winning lensman Amit Mehra, viewers get to see India’s crown jewel and its people through a series of arresting frames. A personal, stark take on the region, the exhibition Kashmir is an evocative show, and presents a unique glimpse of the land we know today.

Kashmir is on display at Gallery Sanskriti, Kolkata (5C, Alipore Park Road, Alipore) until December 3, 2016.
