Looking At Lines With Fiorenzo Senese

Text by Huzan Tata

Wavy, straight, curved, indented….view arrays of lines through the Italian photographer’s works

A line is a simple figure. And a complex one too. Capturing the beauty of lines in his latest show of the same name is Mumbai-based ace Italian photographer, Fiorenzo Senese. Looking at this geometric element with a quirky eye, Senese makes the ordinary seem unusual.

From optical illusions and designs, to patterns and figures, lines together can create attractive pictures. As he says about his muse for the show, ‘Think for a moment about whatever is surrounding us – they are all man-made structures constructed on lines; buildings, roads, bridges, cables, and rails. Through my camera, I try to capture details and extraordinary effects which can generally escape us”.

Lines is on display at Piramal Art Gallery, Mumbai (National Centre for the Performing Arts, NCPA Marg, Nariman Point) until November 29, 2015.
