Celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s Life With Osianama
Mahatma Gandhi’s 146th birth anniversary falls this October. And to bring just the right dose of Gandhigiri to your life is cultural institution Osianama’s brainchild, Gandhiji: The Fuller-Full Life of a Mahatma. This one includes films, exhibitions of art and vintage photographs, and rare personal artefacts from the leader’s life, all from the collections of Kamal Morarka and The Osian’s Archive.
The fest comprises the first exhibition of over 40 original prints from celebrated French photographer Henri Cartier Bresson’s images of the last months of Gandhi’s life. If those aren’t enough for you, the Father of the Nation’s glasses, prayer book, sandals, and even his wooden chakra – all purchased from British auctions – are on display as well. This is Gandhigiri at its best.
Gandhiji: The Fuller-Full Life of a Mahatma is on display at Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai (165, The View, Dr Annie Besant Road, Worli). Film screenings at Liberty Cinema, Mumbai (41-42, Marine Lines). Festival ends October 4, 2015.
