Zooming In
For all those who love whipping out DSLRs at every opportunity, here’s a chance to learn from the masters. The Focus Photo Festival, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and in collaboration with the Mohile Parikh Centre, is Mumbai’s first photo festival, free and open to all. This year, over 30 exhibitions, workshops and educational events will take place at various locations in the island city, celebrating the best of photography.
The theme for this year’s fest is “Crossover”, which explores the various ways we see and capture on camera our city and the world around us. One can’t miss the show Yaathum Oore, Yaavarum Kelir: The Whole World is My World, Humanity is My Fraternity at Bhau Daji Lad Museum, where works by 20 photographers from the world over are on display. Those who love the beauty of black and white images can head to Artisans’, to view octogenarian Jyoti Bhatt’s striking series Photographs of Rural India.
Other celebrated photographers whose works are a part of the fest include Rana Dasgupta, Stephanie Cornfield, Fabien Charuau and Bhupendra Karia. Here’s to celebrating the power of the lens.
The Focus Photography Festival is on display at various venues in Mumbai until March 26, 2015. For more details visit www.focusfestivalmumbai.com.
