Our growing dependence on the internet is as strong as the need for a telephone in the early 20th century or the television in the 1960s. From finding something simple like a restaurant to something complex like a husband, we have relocated to a new virtual reality. Our lives are compressed into walls on Facebook and boards on Pinterest. Connected to people across the globe – even friends of mutual friends – it’s unnerving to field questions on reliable online identities and constant scrutinies.
