Candid Camera: Fatehpur Sikri Water Tank

Photography by Anand Sharan. Compiled by Neha Gupta

Photography is about capturing moments and split-second timing, says Anand Sharan

Location Fatehpur Sikri, Agra

Moving Image “The important thing for me was to capture that boy against the white patch on the wall, which would make him stand out. This involves anticipation and split-second timing. When Sikri has been mentioned in the Mahabharatha as Saik, it was defined as a region surrounded by water. It is interesting to know that ironically Akbar had once abandoned this city in 1585 because of scarcity of water.”

Photographer Bengaluru-based Anand Sharan abandoned advertising to follow his true calling. In 1998 he found international recognition on being invited to participate in Florence Biennale. In 2006, Saatchi Gallery, London, invited him to post his pictures on their official website, and thereafter Academy of Professional Photographers, New York sent him a membership invitation. Sharan has been presented with the 8th Annual Black and White Spider Awards Nominee in the category of ‘People’ at Nomination & Winners PhotoShow. He also teaches the art of photography for beginners & serious hobbyists, and is the director of Bengaluru School of Arts & Photography.
