The Partition of India affected many people in many ways. And for one man, it marked the beginning of his career. Eminent artist Satish Gujral – who celebrates his 90th birthday this year – created, in 1947, a series of dramatic paintings that portrayed on canvas the trauma of the historic event. And now, viewers will get a chance to see over 70 works by and photographs of the man, in a tributary show, A Brush With Life. Curated by Pramod KG, the exhibition pays homage to Gujral’s career, and presents a deeper understanding of the nonagenarian’s life.

The exhibition is presented by non-profit trust, The Gujral Foundation.

A Brush With Life is on display at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi (11, Man Singh Road) until February 20, 2016.
