Morning Glory
They have the ad world agog. Vikram Kalra, 37, and Shashanka Chaturvedi aka Bob, 32, arrived in style by winning not one but two Gold Lions at the Cannes this year for their Times of India ‘Nakka Mukka’ film, an unprecedented achievement. The mavericks who set up their independent production house in 2004 decided to name their creative baby Good Morning Films because it worked as an antithesis to their waking/sleeping habits. Now they’re gung-go about taking things to the next level. Sensibility and filmmaking instincts are crucial though “there’s no foolproof method to filmmaking. Our work often stands out for its soundtrack and visual feel that neatly blends style and reality,” says Vikram, who handles production while Bob directs. Post Cannes, it’s raining commercials for them—Samsung LCD TV and Sony Walkman among a slew of other projects. Oh, and of course there’s a feature film in the works.
