Ladling Out Love

Text by Zaral Shah

Goa-based Sabreen and Prahlad Sukhtankar cook up delicious surprises at their award-winning bistro, The Black Sheep

Food drives their lives — they travelled once from Vancouver to San Francisco just for a lunch date. Their love story began at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland; they tied the knot and returned to India after living 15 years in the West to set up The Black Sheep Bistro in Goa. Apart from its unusual name, the bistro stands out for its innovative handmade cocktails and globally-inspired cuisine made with high quality, locally sourced, seasonal produce. “We promise to be different, opposing the usual ‘authentic’ food to create exciting new flavours. We focus on flavourful dishes that can be easily and consistently executed.” Prahlad is a certified sommelier who believes Sabreen is methodical and her food comes out just right. Sabreen says, “We are very adventurous with our food and are willing to try out anything.”
