Actor and Comedian: Kunaal Roy Kapoor

Text by Kiran C Khanna

Innovative leaders. Inventive actors. Out-of-the box thinkers. Creative minds. These 10 men grab the spotlight…#9: Kunal Roy Kapoor

Three men hail from a common ‘family tree’ – Siddharth, Kunaal and Aditya Roy Kapoor. If they had to make a Hindi film, it could easily be made in-house. One would produce, the second would direct and the third would act. But, all three walk their own walk and have carved their destinies on their own. Sensitive actor Kunaal Roy Kapoor is best known for his cameos in Delhi Belly and Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani – where he held his own in the ensemble cast. He also acted in six episodes of the British Indian comedy series Mumbai Calling. He does not live in anyone’s shadow. Unafraid of competition, he did not choose his brother’s production house when he decided to direct a film and instead went along with a different Siddharth (Jain) to direct a horror film (Pool). This Roy Kapoor is known to steer his own path to success, having the faith, confidence and conviction to make it on his own. And in his staple shirts and chinos with a jacket thrown over for a glam soiree, he looks like a happily married man, which many in Bollywood are shy to portray.
