WIFW Fashion Report: My Village by Rimzim Dadu
She makes magic with any material but this collection was more about redefining, reinventing, reworking over and over. Strips of chiffon and slivers of leather were broken and reassembled, layer upon layer upon layer of idea and technique, only clearly seen and mulled over when viewed up close. The level of detail and intensive labour was mind-boggling and truly special – one couldn’t help but marvel at a corded sari that looked deceptively light and wispy. Or the appliqué cord shirt with a woven leather coat, cord embroidered leather trousers and a chiffon corded belt – a simple sounding enough ensemble that hit the ball out of the park with its tiers of intricacy. The Patola weave of Gujarat, serving as inspiration, only heightened an already superlative concept.
