Fashion’s Brush with Art #2: Brinda Miller for Verve
BRINDA MILER
“The vertical dimensions inspired me to choose to paint a lamp.”
FIRST REACTION ON SEEING KALKI’S IMAGE
“Kalki is a natural…. She has been styled beautifully too. Her clothes and body language all synchronise perfectly.”
THE INSPIRATION AND THOUGHT BEHIND HER ARTISTIC CREATION
“I love the colours of the clothes that Kalki is wearing. They match the kind of artwork that I usually do. I have studied textile design from art school and therefore appreciate fabric and texture. The clothes she is wearing are stunning. The vertical dimensions of the photograph inspired me to choose to paint a lamp, rather than a regular painting within a traditional frame.”
THE FUSION OF ART, FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHY
“I love to work on any kind of collaboration. Artists need to be stimulated and inspired at all times so that they can create something new. An experiment in mixed media is what makes one’s work more interesting for the creator as well as the viewer. I am sure Jatin and all the other artists collaborating here will agree!”
Brinda Miller is a mixed-media Fine Artist. She is also Festival Director of The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. At present she is working on a large artwork for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, Mumbai.
“Watch the behind-the-scenes shoot of the making of these fabulous canvases here.”
“And read about Kalki’s views on art and cinema in the exploratory cover story here.”
