New-Age Designers On The Block

Text by Wyanet Vaz

Istituto Marangoni’s design students showcased their creations at the 10th Edition of the Dominicana Moda in Central America. We round-up the noteworthy designs and handpick our favourites

Arabhi Sivaraman

High point: An Arabian influence ties up her entire collection. We enjoyed the intricate detailing and the use of autumnal shades.

Abiola Adeniran

High point: Oversized floral shirts dominated the collection. The warm tones of mustard coupled with beautifully designed jackets is exactly what we’re expecting this summer.

Alexandra Baranova

High point: We’re all for the feminine spin on the Men in Black. Since LBDs can never get out of style, we approve of the flowy silhouettes and dapper sunglasses.

Huiyang Lu

High point: The houndstooth has been cleverly coupled with daring silhouettes. Who said you can’t mix yellows and black?

Jennifer Wang

High point: The downtown look comprises of baggy shorts and the infamous Eminem-inspired cap. The layering was on-point, and so was the dash of pastel hues.

Li Tianyi

High point: The Victorian influence was clearly visible in this contemporary collection. The thigh high boots and perfectly picked accessories made this one a hot pick.

Wang Shiyi

High point: Graphic designs in monotonal hues defined this collection.

Ying Duan

High point: Tribal motifs were subtly plastered around this collection. Right from the silhouettes, to the colour palettes and intricate work, this one successfully earned a gold star.
