Wild Wild West
Text by Wyanet Vaz
Our dilemma of the day is figuring which one tops the absolutely outrageous list: Rihanna’s loofah-like ensemble, or Kimye breaking the Internet once again? The material girl comes a close third with a butt-flash on the red carpet. Well, as they rightly point out, the Grammy Awards is the only place to take a fashion risk, and be applauded for it.
We give you a round-up of the looks that actually worked on the red carpet.
Taylor Swift
The ombre effect on the Elie Saab gown complemented the gorgeous silhouette. We liked how Taylor Swift swapped her signature red lips for nude gloss, and finished the look with magenta strappy sandals.
Beyonce Knowles
Curves are back and how! Trust Queen Bey to successfully rock the goddess look with this semi-sheer gown by Proenza Schouler.
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen in an Emilio Pucci gown was clearly a winner on the red carpet. We’re fans of the strategically placed cutouts and tousled blonde waves
Ciara
Looking like a piece of art, Ciara owned the red carpet in this asymmetrical Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown. The gold metal belt did everything to enhance the architecturally structured tulle.
Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani gave us a lesson in jumpsuits. Sporting this cool Atelier Versace number, she teamed it with poufy hair and nude make-up. Don’t miss those red manicured nails.
Rihanna
Resembling cotton candy, Rihanna picked a voluminous gown from Giambattista Valli. Besides the in-your-face pink, we think the tattooed arm brought out her wild side.
Jessie J
Adding all the necessary drama, Jessie J rocked this Ralph & Russo sheer gown complete with a full train. We love the vampy make-up and oxblood lips.
Katy Perry
Much like fireworks, with purple flaming waves and a glittering gown by Zuhair Murad, Katy Perry was at her metallic best.
Maddie Ziegler and Sia
From over-sized blazers to giant wigs, Maddie Ziegler and Sia showed us the true version of OTT.
Miley Cyrus
Known for pushing the boundaries, this time Miley Cyrus toned it down with a cut-out gown by Alexandre Vauthier. She played it safe with slicked-back hair and minimal make-up.
Nick Jonas
All grown up, Nick Jonas looked dapper in this Versace checkered suit. He teamed it with pristine white sneakers for that urban effect.
Pharrell Williams
Nobody could pull off a short suit as well as Pharrell Williams did. Sporting this Adidas ensemble with a white bowtie and sneakers, Pharrell upped the cool quotient.
