Inside Memento Mori

Text by Huzan Tata

Explore mortality and death through a group show

The most fragile possession one can have, is life itself. And to remind viewers of the transience of human life, exploring themes of death and loss, is a group show in Mumbai, Memento Mori.

Featuring works by artists Clare Arni, Suruchi Choksi, Samit Das, Payal Kapadia, Soghra Khurasani, Saju Kunhan, Zishaan Akbar Latif, Tanmoy Samanta, Katsushi Goto and Vishwa Shroff, the exhibition includes mixed media creations focussing on loss, nostalgia and other themes related to death. From Latif’s digital prints and Khurasani’s paper works to Samanta’s paintings and Kapadia’s video art, each work exposes the brevity of life.

Memento Mori is on display at Tarq, Mumbai (F35/36, Dhanraj Mahal, Apollo Bunder, Colaba) until July 24, 2015.
