“In the shoes vibrates the silent call of the earth, its quiet gift of the ripening grain and its unexplained self-refusal in the fallow desolation of the wintry field.” – Martin Heidegger

Inspired by this quote and Heidegger’s views, Israeli artist Achia Anzi’s new solo show explores the notions of the world we live in today. Through a series of site-specific installations – creatively using fans, metres, rocks, ropes, plants and more – Anzi tries to uncover what the earth stands for, and also attempts to answer the question “Why are there beings at all, and why not rather nothing?”.

See what Anzi had to say about his inspirations and artistic motivations here.

The Silent Call of Earth is on display at Threshold Art Gallery, New Delhi (C 221, Sarvodaya Enclave) until December 27, 2015.
