The Swiss edition of the annual contemporary art fair is back. Art Basel, that takes place in Basel, Hong Kong and Miami every year, promises a stellar line-up at its European showing. And India will be seen here too. From acclaimed artist Jitish Kallat’s works in various media, Atul Dodiya’s historical canvas, and Shilpa Gupta’s confrontational installation to the polaroid paintings of Desmond Lazaro and Susanta Mandal’s steel projector, Chemould Prescott Road’s booth has much to offer. Noted names including Sudarshan Shetty, Bharti Kher and Sheela Gowda are showing at Gallery SKE’s section. In the Unlimited sector, viewers can enjoy Mithu Sen’s brilliant Museum of Unbelongings and Archana Hande’s video panorama, along with Prabhavthi Meppayil’s Tw/one wall installation.
The Swiss fair includes 280 of the world’s leading galleries, that will be showing works from a whopping 4,000 international artists.
Art Basel is on display at Messe Basel, Basel, Switzerland from June 16 – 19, 2016. For the complete schedule, visit www.artbasel.com/basel.
