Memoirs That You Shouldn’t Miss

Text by Huzan Tata

Several women artists show their creative genius at a group show at The Loft in Mumbai

Memoirs come in various forms – from essays, to journals to biographies, each is a recollection of the past, and tells a story. And to celebrate its seventh anniversary, The Loft at Lower Parel art gallery in Mumbai is out with a show titled Memoir that has several female artists come together to weave visual tales.

With a line-up of eminent artists including Aisha Abid Hussain, Prajakta Palav, Remen Chopra, Samanta Batra Mehta and Suruchi Choksi, the show includes mixed media works in drawing, photography, installation and canvas art.

Says the press note about the beauty of memoirs, ‘…they allow one to enter intensely personal spaces and engage with the teller of the tale in ways that are individual, subjective yet always personal’.

Memoir is on display at The Loft at Lower Parel, Mumbai (Mathuradas Mill Compound, Tulsi Pipe Road) until September 30, 2015
