Exploring Home With Four Artists
A lot of us played “House House” as children. But as we entered the real world, reality took the place of fantasy. At a new show in Mumbai, four artists working in various media attempt to explore various ideas and facets of ‘home’, in an exhibition of the same name. As Kamayani Sharma explains about the show, “The works on view repurpose the most dominant idioms of bourgeois aspiration in the rapidly developing subcontinent”.
Artist Profiles
Priyesh Trivedi is an artist and animator, known for his ‘Adarsh Balak’ series of illustrations. Before concentrating completely on his work as a visual artist, Trivedi worked as a gaming artist at a studio.
Amshu Chukki With an interest in filmmaking and cinema, Chukki works primarily in video art. The artist graduated with a degree in painting from MS University of Baroda and currently works with sculptural installations that include projections.
Chinmoyi Patel Born in Baroda, the 30-year-old artist divides her time between Seoul and India. Patel has an MFA in Art Practice from Goldsmiths in London and has been part of several international exhibitions.
Soazic Guézennec is a French artist based in Mumbai. Her work explores the environment, urbanization, and political situations. Guézennec works in diverse media including photography, sculpture and video art.
Home is on display at Chatterjee & Lal, Mumbai (01/18 Kamal Mansion, Arthur Bunder Road, Colaba) until December 31, 2015.
