Power Trendsetter: Satyavati Berera
Bringing to the table over 35 years of experience in various sectors such as assurance, consulting and governance, Satyavati Berera is the first woman to become the COO of a Big Four accounting firm in India.
Biggest learning: “Nothing is permanent. What is relevant at one point in time may soon become irrelevant. Similarly, what may not be of much significance now may become pivotal at a later stage. One has to embrace change and adapt often. It is important to constantly revisit priorities, recalibrate one’s priorities and efforts. Another important learning is that your work has to speak for itself…ultimately one has to build a legacy of good work to fall back on. There is a need to excel in everything one does. It is important for people to differentiate themselves and invest in building their personal brand.”
Proud moment: “There are many moments in life that define us — as an individual, a professional, a mother, a wife or a family member. Each moment is special in its own way. For example, right from getting the opportunity to join PwC, to becoming a partner 20 years back and a COO last year — every milestone made me and my family happy. It is nice to hear people say that I am an inspiration for them.”
