On being inspired by the Art Nouveau period
“The modern woman who is in touch with her roots, yet has a personal style and voice has always been my inspiration. Her classic choices along with contemporary influences led me to the Art Nouveau period. My inspiration, Alphonse Mucha’s masterpieces reflect the resulting bohemian and feminine influence along with the natural floral lines. I hope to showcase this same blend of classic and modern artistic pieces on the runway this year.”
A peek at his mood board
“You will see sweeping structures like the House of Gaudi and La Sagrada Familia from Alphonse Mucha’s masterpieces Le Pater (1899), The Seasons (1896) and The Flowers (1898) that feature curved lines and art deco influences. Floral and plant motifs have always been close to my heart. The colour palette will see an interplay between my usual favourites like ivory, pale pink, peach, burnt orange, pistachio, red and vintage old rose.”
A piece from the collection for the Verve woman….
“The Verve woman is spirited, independent and an ideal symbol of true elegance. I believe the pastel orange lehenga with intricate art work will effectively draw out her charismatic and charming personality.”
