Silver Lining
Authentic Appeal
For those who truly enjoy Indian fine dining, Varq is the place to make the next reservation. The word ‘varq’ refers to the edible gold and silver foil traditionally used to embellish certain Indian sweets, rich biryanis and curries, so the name suggests refinement and luxury. Visually spectacular, this 80-seater restaurant is a harmonious blend of conventional and contemporary sophistication. The cosy ambience, which includes a private dining room for 14, is located at the lower lobby level overlooking the hotel’s picturesque gardens.
The atmosphere is an intricate fusion of fine dining with art. The restaurant has retained the existing murals by celebrated artist Anjolie Ela Menon, which have been carefully restored in order to merge with the fashionable interior. Rosewood wall panels and dark chocolate monolithic tile floors stand out from the gold-leaf coffered ceiling. Replete with rich artifacts and the innovative presentation of the culinary inventions by chef Hemant Oberoi, Varq makes for a complete dining experience. The menu displays a rich combination of Indian recipes reinvented by Chef Oberoi, with his unusual creations and pairings, new techniques and use of organic spices. The restaurant also offers a unique combination of desserts with teas. Tempting indeed!
