Getting quirky
Quaint shops in Europe and America that sell quirky products planted a seed in Sneha Raisoni’s brain and inspired the chartered account to set up a similar outlet in her hometown, Mumbai. Nicknamed Tappu, she turned her back on numbers and figures and ditched a job at an investment bank to explore her creative side and conjure up unique gift options. “When it comes to gifting something absolutely out of the box, I rarely found anything interesting locally, in most outlets. That’s why I decided to start Tappu Ki Dukaan for those who love funky stuff,” says Sneha. From unusual photo-frames, ashtrays shaped like commodes, to shot glasses in the shape of cutting chai stands, these eccentric products are from unconventional brands like Happily Unmarried, Pop Goes the Art and Haathi Chap to name a few: “I provide a platform for people to showcase their personalised products and my customers appreciate the effort.” In her free time, Sneha likes to read and indulge in a great deal of adventure travelling – it gives her a different perspective on things. And that is how her venture had started in the first place.
