Clutch Me Not

Text by Malvika Sah

Dipping into her deep personal space, accessory designer, Rachana Reddy enjoys conjuring up bags in myriad hues and sizes…

A self confessed geek, Rachana Reddy embodies all the stuff young entrepreneurs are made of. With high scores and first ranks throughout school, she had a hard time deciding whether she wanted to design clothes or buildings when she grew up. A few years down the line, she settled for accessories.

“To constantly create something tangible” is what matters to this “stylishly fashionable” designer. At the moment she is concentrating on her own line of clutches and sling bags in myriad shapes and hues. Her first wooden clutch, Padma, which according to her was a “big milestone in her creative journey”, is already creating waves in the market.

Not one to get lost in the pack of all the greenhorns in the market, this youngster with a passion for street photography, is focussing on designing stuff versatile enough to be carried at any time of the day or evening accentuating whatever is worn with it.

And with a style idol like Sonam Kapoor, her preference for bright colours and zesty designs is becoming a fast hit amongst the “modern woman who is excited about accessorising and unafraid to carry statement pieces”.
