Easily enthralled by the sight of cats, the smell of coffee and the taste of chocolate, actress Nimrat Kaur thrives in donning different identities…

Her recent win as the ‘best supporting actress’ for the play Baghdad Wedding at the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Award (META) has made Nimrat Kaur extremely ecstatic, but what she hasn’t forgotten is to ensure that life is a treasure hunt every day.

Raised and educated in Bhatinda and Pune, Nimrat believes, “Success is to enjoy the bliss that life unfolds; when I see my mother happy, I feel successful.” After graduating from Delhi, she moved to Mumbai to kick-start her career as the lead in Kumar Sanu’s album song called Tera Mera Pyaar. Since then, she has done many ad films and print ads including the latest Aircel 3G PocketFinder commercial.

Having worked with the likes of Manav Kaul, Sunil Shanbag and Akarsh Khurana in theatre, the Pilani-born, Meryl Streep fan, finds that performing arts creates a whole new world for her. Currently, she is looking forward to the release of her film with Anurag Kashyap Productions.

Besides acting, Nimrat “loves playing with cats, having pointless conversations with friends over coffee and going to wildlife sanctuaries”. To keep fit, she eats homemade food, dances, indulges in spa treatments and tries to keep away from sugar, “which can get very difficult for a Punjabi.” An adventure-enthusiast at heart, Nimrat earns it all to burn it all.
