Meet The Creators of Cord
North met south when Neha Singh and Pranav Guglani — from Delhi and Hyderabad respectively — came together to create Cord. Their journey started from Pearl Academy in the capital, where a shared design aesthetic brought them together, and ultimately led to the creation of their accessories label Cord. A result of a mutual passion for travel, art and fashion, an undercurrent of simplicity can be found in their work.
From their clean designs to the use of high-quality saddle leather and printed cotton canvas, the devil really is in the details at Cord. “While designing, we try to think from the consumer’s point of view which is why we pay a lot of attention to functionality…besides which, we feel that it’s the little details that make a product unique, so the idea is to always incorporate that element in our design which makes people say, ‘Oh hey, that looks like Cord!’” share the couple.
Inspired by all that surrounds them — architecture, culture, nature, textures, shapes and proportions —the duo take pride in their ‘Made in India’ philosophy, and their collections are handcrafted using traditional techniques. With a potential retail space in the pipeline, it comes as no surprise that the duo rarely have any free time. There is nothing Neha and Pranav enjoy more than a challenge. They say, “Introducing Cord Clothing naturally involved more capital in terms of new machines and karigars, and was also about shifting the thought process from designing accessories to now playing with fabrics and silhouettes. But we love doing it all!”
