Kulraj Randhwa, who is on a roll post her dream debut with the three Deols, says that acting happened to her purely by chance

It isn’t every day that a newbie gets to work with a big actor, star in her very first movie, let alone three! Kulraj Randhawa, the latest Punjabin on the block has just had a godsent debut with the three Deols in Yamla Pagla Deewana. But then again, more than one seems to be in her destiny for her television debut Kareena Kareena had also seen her in a double role!

Hailing from Punjab, acting was not really a part of the plan. With her dad in the army, the family was always on the move. Talk about school and the pretty lass quickly states, “I was decent in studies, but I guess I was more into sports than scores.” A chance arrival in Mumbai and a couple of acting classes ‘just for fun’ led her to the much treaded path of television and the big screen.

A hardcore Shah Rukh Khan fan, Kulraj has also worked in a couple of Punjabi movies. “Punjabi is my mother tongue so it’s easy. And in a way you do contribute towards your community and its culture as well,” she says.

Working with such big stars may be terrifying for most but the debutante took it in her stride. “All three Deols are from different generations yet have the same roots,” she remarks, adding that as hard as it may be to choose one ‘Dharamji’ was her favourite from amongst the three. And with a hit under her belt, she is now looking at more options to burn up the silver screen.
