On a dear friend’s 50th birthday in Rome, for a beautiful sit-down dinner in a palace, I wore a red gown from my own label, and when I was walking to the table, Marta Marzotto — of the legendary family that owned Valentino — leaned over and grabbed my hand to tell me she thought I looked exquisite and that she wanted my dress!
