Artist, Sculptor, Stand-up Comedian: Arzan Khambatta
He is the man who has made metal a magic medium, giving it diff erent forms infused by his imagination. He is also the man with the Midas touch for whatever he touches turns to gold. With a befitting company name ‘Chisel Hands’, Arzan Khambatta’s sculptures and works of art find pride of place across mantels, lobbies and in several places in India and overseas.
Khambatta, the quintessential Parsi boy from Mumbai’s Dadar Colony, has come a long way. Not only is his mind a fountainhead of creative ideas, engaging with different materials (you may find his head immersed in a 10,000-piece jigsaw puzzle), but he is also known to be a fitness junkie who regularly does triathalon workouts such as cycling, yoga and running. He carries his jeans and tees with ease and comfort. He dresses in young, comfortable and on-the-go clothes.
This man is willing to deviate from the norm. ‘No risk, no glory’ is what he believes in. And, in his late 40s, he has made a creative switch to a different sphere adding another facet to his personality. With elan and confidence, he pursues his ‘side business’ which is the new love of his life – stand-up comedy. It is oxymoronic though to find him sporting his serious bandhgala at these events!
