2. PAMELA EASTON

Easton is a Brisbane-based designer who was running her label Easton Pearson for over 25 years, incorporating Indian textiles into her work. 1. On Indian elements that entice her “It is the vibrant textiles and crafts, that are not available in other parts of the world, that draw me to this country. It has been an absolute adventure to work with artisans from different regions.”
2. On her clientele “My designs attract women who are looking for a certain attitude and confidence in their clothes.”
3. On challenges “The seasonal deliveries in India and the type of clothing required for each client were different from the schedule I was used to working with. So the designated turnaround time took longer to put into place.”
4. 3 adjectives that describe her brand “Eclectic, joyful and polished.”
5. On her inspiration “There are so many! The environment in Brisbane – the warm climate, the geography and colours of northern Australia, huge blue skies, and long clean beaches. Travel is a passion – constant and surprising. I also have creative takeaways from books, art, music, films and architecture which I incorporate into my designs.”
6. On her favourite moment in India “I would be lying if I said there was only one. Some of them are: seeing one of my designs produced by a talented designer, visiting my artisans at the workshop, early morning ragas in front of the Gateway of India.
