The Boudoir Of Baubles

Text by Nisha Jhangiani

Louis Vuitton’s fine jewellery salon doubles up as a private apartment for the truly privileged looking to have one-on-one time with some very covetable jewels

At a distinguished corner of the luxe Place Vendôme square in Paris stands tall Louis Vuitton’s flagship fine jewellery store. Plush interiors and a discreet staff hold fort amidst shiny glass cases bearing signature watches and sparkling baubles. But the real gem lies a flight of stairs above; where salon and residence meet to create a space that authoritatively reeks of the high life, but a sublimely sophisticated one at that. Artworks, crystal goblets, a selection of acclaimed books, sinfully comfortable lounge chairs and sofas and typically French windows that offer spectacular views and allow in some cheery Parisian sunshine are all the elements that make for a leisurely afternoon that can be spent viewing Vuitton’s quality diamonds. These private appointments take on a casual avatar as guests are encouraged to take their time, relax and ponder over the jewels on artless display – nothing is loud, forced or in-your-face.  The idea is to feel at home and decide your own pace as you admire the faultless cut of a custom diamond motif before settling down to a toasty high tea. What you will find in this boudoir is the ultimate luxury – the luxury of time.
