Your Ultimate Guide To Unique Sari Drapes

Text by Saumya Sinha

Tired of wearing your sari the same old way? Try these!

If you’re a lover of all things sari and are constantly hunting for new ways to up your drape game then you’re in for a treat. Veteran designer Ritu Kumar has launched a series on sari-draping in association with Indi in the City to spread the love for the six yards. The series features six elaborate videos of contemporary sari draping styles from dhoti, cocktail and sangeet drapes to workwear, Indo-Western and boho-chic styles. The classic, primitive drape is swiftly moving into the modern reality of those looking to reclaim sartorial individuality.

Verve’s recent initiative to resurrect the sari stemmed from the desire to redefine one’s signature style with some unique forgotten drapes and their functionality. As more and more sari warriors join the bandwagon even today, we watch as the sari exits the realms of our traditional closets and rules the contemporary fashion smorgasbord; sometimes a shift in the pallu is all it takes to go from boardroom meetings to runway-ready.
