Verve reviews Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale

Text by Viseshika Sharma.

Discovering the orchid effect

Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale range needs little introduction – conceived after ten years of research, it’s been a runaway hit with women worldwide. It is known as much for its sublime texture as it is for its anti-ageing effects. Guerlain’s Orchidarium, and its three research centres in France, Switzerland and China, specialises in studying the potential of orchids and their effects on skin longevity. The Gold Orchid, an extraordinary new orchid with vital energy has now been combined with the three other orchids already in the Imperial Orchid Molecular Extract, to boost its performance as the essential ingredient in the Orchidée Impériale range.

The Cream and the Longevity Concentrate have both established themselves as youth-preservation essentials, so it didn’t take much to convince me to experience the new Eye and Lip Cream.  Royal blue, with a regal gold lid, the pot is a gorgeous addition to your dresser, and surprisingly heavy. A tiny spatula accompanies it, to prevent contaminating the rest of the product as you go about dispensing it. And as we’ve come to expect, there’s a ritual for applying the cream correctly.

Smoothing it onto the eye contours and around the lips turned out to be a soothing process that was incredibly addictive.  The silky cream melted into the skin rapidly, making the eye contours seem deliciously hydrated and smooth. The effects of my eye and lip ritual became obvious so soon that tearing my gaze off the bright-eyed reflection in the mirror each morning was proving to be difficult. My lips, usually pretty chapped due to my fixation with matte lipstick, were moist and plump like they hadn’t been for a few years. That alone was enough to convince me to continue using the Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye and Lip Cream. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
